OFAC / Patriot Act Reports
The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) monitors issues associated with trade sanctions that are based on U.S. foreign policy and national security goals. In particular, they administer and enforce sanctions with target foreign countries and regimes, terrorists, international narcotics traffickers, individuals and groups engaged in the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and other threats to national security, foreign policy, or the economic stability of the United States. This office has the ability to impose control on certain transactions and freeze assets that are under U.S. jurisdiction as mandated by emergency Presidential authorization or specific legislation. Many of the sanctions are based on United Nations and other international mandates, are multilateral in scope, and involve close cooperation with allied governments.
