Some Rental Markets Thrive in Downturn

Some rental markets thrive even in an economic downtown

The experts are at odds about whether this is a good time to invest in rental properties, and much of that debate depends on your personal financial situation. Business Week reported in an article August 14, 2008, that the rental market is more related to the health of the job market than the housing market. Even in areas hard hit by the decline in home sales, the rental market has stayed strong as long as there are jobs available. When people aren’t sure about the economy, they are more likely to rent than buy. If the job market is strong, the demand for rentals will stay high.
